Trenching and conduit are drawn as separate lines on the Design map, so you can price excavation independently from the raceway running through it.

Drawing a trench

  1. In the top toolbar, click Trench.

  2. Pick an install method: Rock, Soil, Asphalt, or Concrete.

  3. Click each vertex along the path between the two markers. Double-click or press Enter to finish.

To change a trench's install method later, click the line and pick a new value from the inspector's Trenching type dropdown.

Drawing conduit

Click Connect in the top toolbar, then pick a mode:

  • Free Path for a single conduit run between two markers

  • Multi-connect to feed many devices from one source in one pass

  • Trunk & Branch for one trunk conduit serving branch wires off to each device

To draw the run:

  1. Pick the assembly to use, or Generic run to assign one later.

  2. Follow the on-map instructions for the mode you picked. They prompt you through each click.

  3. For Free Path, click the start marker and the end marker. For Multi-connect, keep clicking devices to extend the run. For Trunk & Branch, draw the trunk path first, then click each branch endpoint.

You do not need to pick wire and conduit sizes when you draw. Run Auto-size system after connecting your equipment, and the run's wire, ground, and conduit are sized and assigned automatically.

A conduit drawn along the same path as an existing trench sits on top of it. Both lines stay separate and can be selected independently.

Splitting or rerouting a run

  • Change part of a trench to a different surface. Delete the line and draw two trenches, each with its own install method.

  • Reroute the path. Delete the line and redraw it on the new path. The conduit running over it stays put until you redraw that too.

  • Swap the conduit assembly. Select the conduit and pick a new assembly in the inspector.
